Drug Free Ambassadors of Sydney, Australia

The Drug Free Ambassadors' blog posted this story about a recent event:

Crow's Nest Festival

Sunday the Drug Free Ambassadors made a huge impact at the Crow's Nest Festival. 396 people signed the drug-free pledge and over 1000 received information to help them stay drug free.
This campaign is an initiative of the Scientology churches in Australia and the spokesman Cyrus Brooks said of this effort: "It is incredible to hear the stories of people. One lady had taken marijuana to numb her sadness and asked for help, while another person said he had lost 3 friends through drugs and he himself had taken every drug in the book. But he was lucky enough and smart enough to draw the line and quit right there. He did and has been drug free and signed the pledge. It feels so good to be here and part of this activity."

Mr. David Miscavige Dedicates Beautiful New Scientology Churches

There have been several new churches opened over the past few years.

These are designed to provide far more Scientology introductory services that help a person with any problems or difficulties and give him or her tools to improve life.

One such was the grand opening of the Church of Scientology of Johannesburg which also marked Mr. Miscavige's first visit to South Africa.

Mr. David Miscavige dedicated the new Church of Scientology of San Francisco
The Church of Scientology of San Francisco is another of these new churches where Mr. Miscavige spoke at the grand opening.

Another was the grand opening of the Church of Scientology of Madrid, where Mr. Miscavige was joined by another very famous Scientologist - Tom Cruise.

Mr. Miscavige was also a guest speaker at the grand opening of the Church of Scientology of Buffalo, in upstate New York.

Here is some more information about churches David Miscavige has dedicated.

These churches now have the capability of offering their programs, such as literacy programs, anti-drug activities and human right education to local community groups and to train people, Scientologists and non-Scientologists alike, in basic Scientology procedures they can use to make a real difference in their communities.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers Disaster
Relief in the South

Here's a good article from the Articles Factory on Scientology Volunteer Ministers disaster relief:

Since that fateful day when hurricane Katrina made her destructive rampage through
Louisiana and Mississippi, the media focus has primarily been centered around the physical damage, financial loss and human trauma that have been left in the wake of her fury.

We hear and read about the millions of dollars in donations that have been contributed by various corporations, charitable groups, individuals and governments from around the world. Considerable attention has also been placed on massive undertakings to clean up and repair the physical damage to property and infrastructure.

However, the human element is far more traumatic, and undoubtedly the most tragic and devastating aspect of the entire disaster. We heard about children displaced from parents and family; hard working, decent citizens who lost everything that they worked a lifetime to achieve; civil unrest. It is impossible to list all of the different types of personal tragedy that have befallen individuals in this storm-battered area of the U.S.

There was one group very much involved in helping people to cope with the adverse mental and spiritual effects suffered. It is a team – a worldwide network of Volunteer Ministers, in fact – who answer to the official name of the “Scientology Disaster Response Team.” Many people of different religions have trained as Volunteer Ministers and joined the teams to help those needing aid in Mississippi and Louisiana. >>

Scientology in Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. holds a special place in the history of Scientology, as it was in Washington that L. Ron Hubbard established the Founding Church of Scientology and took on the role of Executive Director. Throughout the late 1950s and early 1960s, L. Ron Hubbard delivered congresses in D.C. where Scientologists from around the world gathered to hear the latest breakthroughs in Scientology research.

On March 13th this year Mr. David Miscavige announced that all of the congresses Mr. Hubbard delivered in Washington, and those he delivered in London, Johannessburg and Melbourne were being released in CD format.

I've been listening to these lectures in chronological order and they are astounding. I highly recommend them to anyone: those new to Scientology and old-timers.

Mr. David Miscavige also announced in a recent international event that Mr. Hubbard's offices at the original premises of the Founding Church of Scientology have been completely renovated to exactly match what they looked like when L. Ron Hubbard was running that church in the 1960s. This has been turned into a museum that anyone can visit.

Several years ago the Founding Church of Scientology moved into a beautiful new premises.
Mr. Miscavige also attended the grand opening and dedicated the current home of the Church.

Human Rights

One unique thing about the Scientology religion is the emphasis it places on human rights.

Scientologists do tremendous work in this field, whether it is protecting the rights of mental patients and making psychiatry accountable for what they do to people, as members of Citizens Commission on Human rights are doing, or the Church of Scientology International Human Rights Department, who work with programs such as Youth for Human Rights to educate young people on human rights so they can become advocates of human rights in their own areas.
