Scientology Volunteer Minister Disaster Response

News from the Gulf Coast

Almost 900 Scientology Volunteer Ministers have either arrived or are en route to the disaster areas to help with urgently needed relief.

They are manning shelters, working with the emergency response teams and providing supplies.

Here are some of today's stories:

An 18-wheeler truck is being loaded up and is leaving tonight for Los Angeles to go to Baton Rouge where we have our main headquarters. It has been filled with donated food, clothes and medical supplies. Two more trucks have been promised and will be filled and driven out within the next day or so.

The Church of Scientology of Los Angeles has a drop-off center which is accepting donations of goods to be brought to Louisiana and other disaster areas.

Scientology and the Arts

In the DVD called This is Scientology Mr. David Miscavige explains why Scientology has a "Celebrity Center" -- because L. Ron Hubbard recognized that it is artists who create the future of the civilization. As Mr. Hubbard stated: "A culture is only as great as its dreams, and its dreams are dreamed by artists." Scientology Celebrity Centre is located in Hollywood, and provides training in Scientology technology and spiritual counseling.

It is also open to the public to tour, and has a very interesting exhibit where anyone can learn about Scientology and what it is doing in the world.

In this same speech, Mr. Miscavige describes the Scientology Volunteer Ministers program which is in the spotlight again for the help they are providing after Hurricane Katrina.
